off season lectures
We are pleased to present the "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About... but were afraid to ask" series of guest speakers brought to you by New York AutoFest during the show off season.

The lecture series features an evening of informative speakers on such subjects as collector car insurance, Long Island racing history, exhaust system design, AC and heating systems, engine cooling systems, even such subjects as investing, retirement, and more. We will not be limited to automotive subjects, if it's a subject that will interest Long Islanders and car guys and gals, then we'll consider it. We plan to have some important people come speak to us ranging from vehicle design to drag racing.

There will be refreshments served at all events. All lectures and films are free of charge but a contribution to help offset the refreshments expenses would be most appreciated.

David Asher has over 20 years experience working with Medicare, both as a clinician and an Insurance executive. He operates an agency that specifically deals with Medicare supplements and plans designed for New York medicare recipients, known as Medicare Advantage.

David, a Navy veteran, has worked with New York AutoFest over the years, and is currently an officer at the Syosset VFW, where he has helped us secure space for shows. He makes himself available from time to time to inform clubs and associations about their Medicare options, and how to avoid some of the pitfalls that can be encountered in this confusing world of choices. oxygen fur life campaign
Thank you to Joyce Glass of Lucy's Legacy for your generous donation of matching funds. Matching funds such as this will help us achieve our goals so much faster!

Our new Oxygen Fur Life campaign has been set up to donate pet oxygen kits to local fire departments. These kits contain all the necessary items such as masks and tubing to fit most household pets such as dogs, cats, ferrets, even parrots!

Losing a pet due to a house fire can be a devastating experience. As most pet owners leave their furry companions home alone when they go to work, pets are left to fend for themselves in the event of a house fire. While affixing "rescue alert stickers" to your home can be helpful to first responders, saving the pet's life is not assured. Unlike humans who instinctively run out during fires, pets instinctively look for a hiding place to protect them from the fire. Far too many pets die each year of smoke asphyxiation. While firemen attempt to get pets safely out of burning structures, they are not able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment - pet oxygen masks. These specially-designed animal masks can be used both on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to the dangerous toxic fumes.

We've set up a special page accepting donations for this worthy program. We've already raised enough for kits to supply six fire houses but our goal is to donate to every fire house on Long Island! Only you can help us with this ambitious project.

If your company or group would like to participate in the miaching funds program it would be most appreciated and will certainly propel us towards our goal.

So far we have donated kits to:
Atlantic Steamer Fire Co.1, Oyster Bay
Oyster Bay Fire Dept Co. 1
Hicksville Fire Dept. Hose Co. 4
(about to be delivered)
East Norwich Fire Dept. (about to be delivered)
Sea Cliff Fire Dept.
 (about to be delivered)

More to come!

all shows calendar open to everyone

Has your group or club been prevented from attending the annual President's Council meeting? A number of groups, clubs, and others have been told that they cannot attend the annual calendar meeting. Many bona fide clubs that have been supporting the Council for years are being excluded while some non-clubs and commercial entities have been listed. It appears to be totally arbitrary.

Fear not, the New York AutoFest online calendar is open to EVERYONE and it's FREE! All you have to do is go to our calendar page here, fill in some basic information and you'll be on the calendar for all to see. You can even upload a copy of your show poster. If you want to add this calendar to your web site or Facebook page we'll be more than happy to set you up. We believe that everyone should be able to post their show info for all to see.

If you're putting on a car show you will need dash plaques and trophies. Consider buying them from New York AutoFest. We are the home of the $.85 dash plaque, our trophy prices are some of the lowest around and our designs and service are quite unique.
